DIRECTIONS FOR HOW TO MAKE THE DIY ANIMAL FELT BOARD:
First, download the DIY Animal Felt Board For Kids template from my free resources library. Then print it out and cut out all the shapes. (If you don’t have the password to the resources library, you can get it here and I will sent it to you through email.)
After you’ve cut on the pattern pieces, begin tracing them on to the felt.
I recommend doing the animals first because they don’t require multiple pieces of felt. Decide what color you want each animal to be and start cutting them out. It’s okay if they’re not exactly like the pattern template, they’ll still look amazing.
Now you can assemble the trees. Each tree is made of two pieces of felt - one green and one brown. First trace them out using the template. Then cut and glue the brown piece onto the back of the green felt.
Assemble the mountains by first cutting out the grey base, and then one of each mountain top (#1 and #2). Glue the white mountain felt on top of the grey felt.
Cut out the cloud and sun shapes. Then the two pieces for the red/yellow tent. Glue the yellow tent opening on top of the red felt.
The camper requires the most assembly, but it’s still pretty easy. I used three colors - brown for the base and pink/blue to make the camper.
First, cut out the camper base shape. This is what everything will be glued on top of.
Next, take the camper template and cut out the individual pieces (as shown in image #2 above)
Now, glue the larger pink and blue pieces on top of the brown felt base.
Next, glue the smaller felt pieces including windows, wheels and lightning bolt on top.
That’s it! The camper is by far my daughter’s favorite part of the felt board.
HOW TO MAKE THE FELT BOARD:
For felt base, I used a thicker piece of dark grey felt. I folded about 3” of it over and safety pinned it together to create a pocket for the dowel to slide through. Then I tied a piece of cotton string onto each side of the dowel for the felt board to hang from.
Note: You can also use a piece of thin felt as the base. If you do, I recommend glueing it around a piece of cardboard so it’s sturdy.
Ta-da! It’s the cutest project ever.
And that’s how you make the DIY Animal Felt Board For Kids! I hope you enjoyed learning how to make this fun activity for kids!
