Egg Carton Flowers

Although it feels like Spring outside - the sun is shining and the birds are chirping - the flowers have yet to bloom. I’m a sucker for an easy Spring craft. I can’t help it, I’ve loved crafting ever since I was little and it’s the reason I received my degree in Fine Arts. I believe that everyone is creative. You certainly don’t need a degree. And for me, I know that as a mom, the simpler the crafts the better.

So let’s make a really simple and easy craft together today, shall we!?

These egg carton flowers are the perfect craft to make for Easter or Mother’s day with your leftover egg cartons and a recycled can. I should also mention that this would be a great Mother’s day gift for grandma!

Just look at all the pretty colors you can make! Have your kids pick out their favorite paints that they want to use. I can’t help but be drawn to making a rainbow of flowers - but your child might want them all blue, or orange! Let them decide what they’d like them to be.

To make your egg carton flower bouquet, you’ll need a few cheap materials, most of which you probably already have hanging around. I’ve linked to them using my amazon affiliate links, at no extra cost to you.

MATERIALS NEEDED FOR EGG CARTON FLOWERS:

DIRECTIONS FOR EGG CARTON FLOWERS:

  • First, paint the tin can any color you’d like and let it dry. This will be the vase that the egg carton flowers will sit in. I ended up using two coats of paint to cover the surface completely.

Next cut the egg carton lid and tabs off. Then, one-by-one, cut out each scoop piece. Depending on what your egg carton looked like (they’re all kind of different) your scoops might be a little uneven. This isn’t a big deal, make them as even or uneven as you'd like them to be.

Now, have your child choose their favorite paint colors and paint each egg carton on the inside and the outside. Let those dry completely before the next step.

There are only two steps left to make the egg carton flowers:

  • Take two pipe cleaners and twist them together. Glue them on to the back of the egg carton using a hot glue gun.

  • Now, take a pom pom and glue it in the center of the inside of the egg carton.

Repeat the steps until you’ve completed all the flowers. I used one egg carton, which makes 12 flowers in total.

And that’s it! This craft is super easy to make. Now all you need to do is add the flowers to the yellow container.

I just love a recycled egg carton craft. There are so many creative things you can do with an egg carton that you would just end up recycling. If you’re looking for some more inspiration, some of my most popular projects include the rainbow snake craft and Easter bunny and chick craft candy holders.
