How To Make Rainbow Pasta For Crafts
I’m so excited about how this dyed pasta craft project turned out! Colored pasta is great to use for crafts and sensory bins. This easy tutorial will show you how to dye pasta in small batches with a variety of colors!

Before we go any further, I want to tell you that this project is FAST to make and really FUN! I made this batch of dyed rainbow pasta to have on hand for any upcoming crafts, including pasta necklaces or pasta collages on paper. You can also have your kids play with them in a sensory bin after they dry. Or you can save them for an upcoming craft like I did.
I purchased a large bag of super cheap pasta noodles for this project for only $2 from the grocery store. If you want to fill a whole bin for a sensory project, you might need 1 or 2 more bags.
HOW TO MAKE RAINBOW PASTA FOR CRAFTS:
To make the rainbow pasta for crafts, you’ll need dried pasta, paint, plastic bags and a measuring cup. The first step is to decide what colors you want the pasta to be.
Next, divided all your pasta into separate bags for each color. I used a little over 1 cup of dried pasta for each color. This will depend on how much pasta you have. Your child will enjoy sorting the pasta into each bag.
Squirt some non toxic acrylic paint into the bag, seal it up, and shake shake shake! As you shake, the paint will distribute evenly over all of the pasta. If you didn’t add enough paint to cover them, just add some more and shake again!
Repeat this process for each of your colors. Open the bags up and pour the pasta onto a sheet of parchment paper or wax paper. Let them dry for a few minutes. If they stick together a little bit, just pull them apart once they’re dry. The pasta will dry pretty quickly so you don’t have to wait too long.
After that, you just need to pour them into the container your kids will use to play. Or store them in a bag for future craft projects.
I love how perfectly imperfect these are. I can’t wait to make some upcoming crafts with these colors! I plan on doing a noodle necklace and a pasta collage with my daughter very soon!
